Academic Petition Office:
I am writing to express my support for Salman Moussa in his request to drop CHEM222 from the
current semester’s schedule due to extenuating personal circumstances. As an instructor, I
recognize the importance of advocating for the well-being and academic success of students.
Salman performed above average on the first assessment of the course (8.5/10); however, his
subsequent scores on quizzes (2/10 and 5/10) and assignments (7/22) fell far below the class
average. Additionally, he has not submitted the second and third assignments, and the midterm,
which constitutes 25% of the final grade, remains unwritten.
It is evident that the Salman’s personal circumstances are significantly impeding his ability to meet
the demands of CHEM222. At this point, it has become clear that continuing with this course
would only increase his stress and potentially compromise their overall academic performance.
