Petition Letter
Dear Queen's University
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to request permission for a late drop from RELS 137 Religion and Film. I understand that this is an exceptional circumstance and I appreciate your consideration for my request. I have carefully considered my academic progress and the impact that this decision will have on my educational goals. After reflection, I have come to the conclusion that being able to withdrawal from this course is most responsible answer.
I want to assure you that my dedication to my learning remains strong. I have demonstrated consistent performance in all of my other courses this school year, maintaining good grades and being an active participant in class discussions. Although, I unfortunately missed the deadline for the drop period, I see now that that was a careless mistake on my part.
However, I have encountered significant challenged within RELS 137. Due to a personal health issue related to my mental well-being, I have come across difficulties in keeping up with the course requirements and maintaining the standard of academic success that I strive for. This has altered my ability to fulfill my academic responsibilities within the course and as a result I have fallen behind, and missed the deadline.
I want to emphasize that I do not take this decision lightly, I have explored all available resources to mitigate the impact of my health issues on my studies. However, it has become clear to me that dropping this course is necessary to ensure that I can continue to excel this academic term.
It is important to note that this course will not impede my progress towards graduation as I have more credits than required. I sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this may case, and I am committed and able to fulfill any additional requirements to formalize this request.
Thank you for your understanding and consideration of my request, if you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at 18mmr5@queensu.ca.
Best,
Madeline Richardson
