Petition Letter
Dear Dean,
I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Arian Ebrahimian (20273909).I am writing to respectfully request a modification to my current enrollment in BCHM 310, a 9-credit course that includes a laboratory component. Due to ongoing health issues, I am seeking to drop the laboratory portion of this course and continue with the theoretical aspects divided into two separate courses, BCHM 315 and BCHM 316.
Recently, I have been experiencing increased anxiety, which has significantly affected my ability to perform in environments that require intensive hands-on activities, such as laboratory sessions. Upon consultation, my family doctor has provided a medical recommendation, a copy of which is attached, suggesting that adjustments to my course load could substantially mitigate my symptoms and aid in my academic success.
Given the circumstances, I propose the following adjustments to my academic schedule:
Withdrawal from the Laboratory Section of BCHM 310: This action is crucial to reduce my exposure to stress-inducing environments, aligning with medical advice.
Enrollment in BCHM 315 and BCHM 316: These courses would cover the theoretical components of BCHM 310, enabling me to continue my studies in biochemistry without the lab component.
This modification will not only assist in managing my health condition but also allow me to maintain my academic progress within the Department of Life Sciences. I am committed to my education and eager to pursue it in a manner that also supports my health and well-being.
I appreciate your consideration of this request and am hopeful for a positive resolution. I am prepared to discuss this matter further and provide any additional documentation or information needed at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Arian Ebrahimian
