Academic Plan
I would very much wish to finish my core requirements for my degree program Bachelor of Computing (General).
At this stage I still need to take one more course CISC 203, and to improve the GPA.
To achieve these objectives, I am in the process of contacting Dr. Dawes in his function as academic advisor for the school of computing to make sure I am on the right track and to help me plan the course load and selection.
Comparing my behaviour in these past years to my more successful classmates, I have determined the following steps to help my chances of success:
I will attend all lectures, take notes by hand, record the lectures and transcribe them to OneNote that night to aid in immediate study and retention of the days topics.
I will have a daily planner with clear short term objectives.
I will read ahead, keep up with all assignments and homework problems, submit them in time, and review the past years exams.
Finally, I will be actively present at all office hours for the professors and TAs of the courses I'm attending to discuss the topics being taught and further help learn them thoroughly and understand what the TAs are looking for when they are marking tests and assignments.
Now it becomes a question of how will I make sure this doesn¿¿t happen again
Health
I have undergone a psychological assessment again and I have been placed back on treatment for depression.
I will also be starting on medication and treatment for Attention Deficit Disorder.
My new family doctor has referred me for counselling services already.
Family
My parents have employed personal support workers for my grandfather, and I have come to terms that there will be further deterioration in my grandfather; but I also know that he is receiving the best care available and I will have to focus on my studies.
More than that, I am making sure that we monitor my treatment.
I found that in the classes that I did well in, I interacted with the professors enough that they knew me and could notice my absence. As such, my parents and I will be speaking regularly with our doctors about my performance, and keeping detailed records of my attendance and performance. I have decided to also do daily check-ins with them in order to be proactive to make sure that my treatment can be measured and modified.
