Petition Letter
I am writing to you to respectfully ask for consideration of my petition to withdraw Econ 212 and Econ 222 from my academic text. This request comes in light of exceptional personal circumstances that have significantly disrupted my academic performance during the last fall and winter semesters. During this difficult period, my 12-year-old sister fell seriously ill with a persistent sore throat, which required long and intensive care. Since our mother's work requires her to work hours away from home, the responsibility for the daily care of my sister lies with me. This included an intensive commute every two weeks by bus, which significantly disrupted my regular study routines and significantly reduced my ability to maintain my academic commitments.
Despite my efforts to manage these responsibilities alongside my coursework, the specific requirements and workload of Econ 212 and Econ 222 proved to be far beyond what I could handle practically under these circumstances. Consequently, this has led to poor performance and failures in these critical courses, which are in stark contrast to my commitment and performance in other areas of my academic life. In addition, prolonged stress and disruption of normal sleep patterns affected my health, which prompted me to seek professional help from a sleep therapist. This therapy was helpful in starting to restore my well-being and preparing me to fully re-engage in my academic responsibilities.
The impact of these personal challenges on my academic performance has been profound and extraordinary, not indicative of my usual ability or dedication to my studies. Therefore, I am petitioning to withdraw these courses from my record to prevent an undue impact on my academic progress and GPA. Removing these courses will provide a more accurate reflection of my academic potential and achievements under normal circumstances.
I look forward, I am dedicated to my educational goals and I implement the strategies learned from therapy to manage stress and improve concentration. I am eager to get more deeply involved in my academic endeavours and show my true abilities. Your positive consideration of my petition will not only correct the misrepresentation of my academic record due to unprecedented personal challenges but also support my continued progress toward my degree, keeping me above the academic test threshold and on track to successfully complete my program.
