Petition Letter
Dear Officer,
Hope you are having a good day. Please kindly consider my situation below.
I am going to be a senior, majoring in sociology and minoring in film and media. However, when I was choosing courses, I found that our 300-level film courses in this fall and winter are not suitable for me, since class time on Tuesday conflicts with my major sociology course, so I want to take a 300-level film course outside the school.
The following is the schedule for my sociology major courses in the fall: SOCY 425 Tuesday 11:30-2:30; SOCY
384 Tuesday 14:30 - 16:00. It can be seen that my sociology major is almost full on fall Tuesday. However, most of my favorite Film 300-level classes are also on Tuesdays. It conflicts with my sociology major. For example, in Film 307 and 336, lab time and SOCY major conflict; Film 308, tut time and SOCY major conflict; Film 309, lecture time and SOCY major conflict. If this happens, I can't imagine what the course result be like, I want to try my best to get a reasonable mark on each course.
In addition, near graduation, I will major in sociology at the 400 level and 300 level, and the coursework will be particularly heavy. My major will involve a lot of group work and presentation assignments, which will cost me a lot of energy. Therefore, I hope I can devote more time and energy to my major. The class I want to take off campus is an elective minor. To ensure my future academic plan(like graduating on time and successive graduation applications) moves smoothly, I need to try to make my current study progress in a suitable and organized way.
To sum up, I hope you can understand my difficulties and allow me to take an elective minor course off-campus for credit.
Thanks for your time and help.
Best,
Lin
