Hi,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally request a waiver of the petition deadline for a late course drop for Math111.
I enrolled in Math111 in September 2022 and completed the course in April 2023. Unfortunately, my grade did not meet my expectations, and I planned to retake the course in Fall 2024 to improve my understanding and CGPA. However, I recently discovered that Math111 is no longer offered in the curriculum when I attempted to register for it again.
Due to this unexpected change, I missed the deadline to apply for a late course drop, as I assumed the course would continue to be available in future terms. After consulting with the Art and Science Student Service, they advised that the best course of action would be to apply for a late course drop to prevent the course from negatively impacting my CGPA. Additionally, they recommended that I enroll in Math112 to satisfy my academic requirements.
Given these unforeseen circumstances, I kindly request a waiver of the petition deadline for the following reasons:
The unavailability of Math111 in future terms was not anticipated.
I had intended to retake the course to improve my grade and CGPA, under the assumption that the course would still be offered.
This situation has significantly impacted my academic plan, and the ability to drop Math111 and enroll in Math112 is crucial for my academic progress.
