Petition Letter
Dear officers,
I took CISC 181 last summer, and I failed. I was struggling to adjust myself to focus on studying as one of my best friends for life had passed away, and it distraught me a lot.
In the same summer, I was also taking transfer credit classes from Jinan Univ, which were offline in-person classes. I was able to interact with the professor and the classmates, they helped me distract from the sorrow for my dear friend and focus on the homework. And so, as I went back home to study CISC 181 online by myself, I think I was able to pass the class just as I had passed the offline classes at Jinan Univ. But it turns out the opposite.
(I have recovered from that loss and sorrow.)
This Fall semester, I have chosen two fourth-year economics major classes and one 300-level economics elective class to do this semester, which are not easy, and I want to put more energy into economics courses than my other 2 elective classes. However, I couldn't find many elective classes that were appealing to me, so I just chose CISC 251, which is “a bit challenging” and MUS 103.
Before choosing CISC 251, I noticed that CISC 181 isn’t offered at Queen’s this fall term or next year’s winter, even though I like to choose again to achieve higher grades, just as I have done for ECON 255, and 222. I know it may be offered next summer, but I am not sure if the time allows me to graduate next summer which I have planned to do. (Now I am only left with 2 major classes and 3 elective classes to graduate.) And I remember in 2023 the class was operated from July to August.
But later I found an institution that has the exact equivalent classes for CISC 181. The host university is a Canadian university. According to Transfer Credits in the Academic Calendar Regulation 16.1.3; I have left with 3 elective courses that I could do transfer credit. Therefore, I petition is, I would like to take the CISC 181 as transfer credit this fall semester, which is relatively easier for me to do, since I have studied it before, also less stressful for my last year’s study, and finally, it can cover my F grade.
