Academic Plan
Goals:
1. Find courses which interest me throughout my four year program (Global Development Major - (Arts) - Bachelor of Arts (Honours))
2. Complete the Certificate in Business alongside my major within the four year time frame
3. Expand my learning and perspectives on current and historical Global issues by broadening my academic and personal experiences throughout my undergraduate degree
Evaluate:
DEVS mandatory courses total 60.00 units
- Completed/In Progress = 36.00 units
- Required = 24.00 units
Electives required total 60.00 units
- Completed/In progress = 39.00 units
- Required = 15.00 units
Certificate in Business
- Complete/In Progress = 12.00 units
- Required = 6.00 units
Prepare (Study abroad ILOP 2 courses vs. 5):
If I took 2 courses during my semester abroad (4th year would include)
- 24.00 units of mandatory DEVS units
- 15.00 units of elective courses
- 6.00 units of COMM courses (CIB)
OR
5 courses
- Course Information (University Pompeu Fabra)
Barcelona the City and its History-Group 2
- Humanities
- Emphasizes the historical development of Barcelona from Roman times to present
Lengua española. Gramática y destrezas escritas (Inicial-A1)
- Language
- Focus on written skills and Spanish language and skill improvement
The Impact Journey: (Un)Sustainability, Climate Emergency, Authentic Leadership
- Economics and Business Department
- Focus on raising awareness about (un)sustainability with a practical approach to system thinking
Ageing societies: Social, economic and political consequences
- Politics and Social Sciences
- Focused on getting to know the changes that population ageing is going to have on politics, the economy and society
Understanding Globalization: Global issues in Historical Perspective
- Humanities
- Analyzes the deep-rooted history of major issues affecting the world today by offering a clear set of theoretical frameworks about concrete themes linked to the interactions of Asia, Latin America, Africa and Europe from the Columbian Exchange or the Manila Galleon to the early twenty-first century
Based on the departments which these courses are offered and the highlighted information I have provided it is clear to see that these courses would significantly contribute to overall knowledge of Global Development Studies and help broaden my learning beyond the courses and opportunities Queen’s University can provide.
This information shows my academic standing upon return if I were to take 15.00 units while studying abroad rather than 6.00, counted towards elective units
- 24.00 units of mandatory DEVS units
- 6.00 units of elective courses
- 6.00 units of COMM courses (CIB)
