Petition Letter
Hello,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to provide some context regarding my recent performance in GNDS 125. I understand that my grades may have been disappointing, and I want to explain the challenges I faced during my first year that led to this.
For me, starting university was a big change that I looked forward to with a mixture of excitement and anxiety. Sadly, the adjustment phase turned out to be much harder than I had anticipated. As I started adjusting to the requirements of university life, I experienced serious mental health issues that I had not expected.
I was incredibly depressed and anxious throughout this period, which made it difficult for me to concentrate, interact with my schoolwork, and provide my best effort. Managing a new academic setting in addition to my social and personal changes got harder and harder. My best attempts to stay up to date with my studies were unsuccessful due to the severe effects of my mental health problems.
I went to a psychologist for assistance after realizing I needed support, and she gave me an anxiety and depression diagnosis. My psychologist has been a huge help in getting me through this difficult time. I was put on medication to treat my symptoms and began treatment to assist my learning coping mechanisms and enhance my general health. To provide further light on the severity of my issue and the measures I've been taking to control it. I have a note from my psychologist ready; if you need me to email it please let me know.
Being open and honest about my circumstances is important to me because I think you should know the background of the way my academic achievement was affected. My mental health issues are not a reflection of my devotion to my academics; rather, they are an unanticipated obstacle that I am actively trying to overcome.
I have a strong commitment to learning, and I’m making preparations now to make sure I can handle the demands of my schoolwork in the future. I am optimistic that I will be able to get back on track and achieve academic success with the help and skills I am learning.
With all of this, I have worked this summer taking a summer course to add a credit and would like to see if I could get this course dropped from my transcript because it’s not a reflection of my dedication to my academics.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and for your understanding of my situation. I appreciate your support and am open to discussing any concerns or questions you may have regarding my academic progress.
Sincerely,
Jordy
