Academic Plan
While studying abroad in the Winter semester of 2025, I plan to take five courses (15.0 units). I am on track with my degree and will be completing three POLS courses (12.0 units) plus POLS 285 and one SOCY course (3.0 units this fall). If I obtain permission to study abroad, I will be missing a mandatory political studies course that I plan to take in the winter of 2025 (POLS 350) and one additional political studies credit that would complete my requirements for my 300-level courses. I spoke with Rachel Laforest, the undergraduate chair of Political Studies and she informed me that I will be able to take the mandatory POLS course (POLS 350) in the winter semester of my fourth year. She also informed me that the other political studies course credits can be transferred from the 2 political study classes that I take while studying abroad. This would satisfy the required amount of 300 level units for my major. As for my minor, I was planning on taking 2 sociology courses while studying abroad if the school offers sociology courses available for international students that are transferable to my Queens degree. This will leave me with 12 sociology units completed towards my goal of 24 sociology units to satisfy my minor. The remaining 12 units needed for my minor I will complete during the two semesters of my fourth year. If the international school does not have transferable sociology courses available, I intend to take the 18 required units during the summer before my fourth year and in my fourth year. For the remainder of the courses I would take when I study abroad, (either 3.0 or 6.0 units), I would like to take elective courses that I am interested in that will teach me more about the culture and history of the country.
