Academic Plan
To complete my Arts & Science Honours degree within four years, I must complete 120.0 units of courses over four years. As a Political Studies Major, 60.0 of these units must come from the Political Studies department. I have taken the required 6.0 units at the 100 level, and the 18.0 units POLS requirement at the 200 level. I have taken 3.0 of the 6.0 units of theory through POLS 250, and I will have completed the 6.0 units of methods courses given I have completed STAT 263 (in replacement of POLS 285) and will have completed POLS 284 by the end of this fall semester. An important change in my academic plan given my petition to study more than 6.0 units at another institution is that I am unable to take the other 3.0 units of theory (POLS 350) at the recommended time frame, winter semester 2025 of my third year. However, I can ensure that I will take these required credits in the winter semester of my fourth year, as there are only 12.0 units required at the 400 level with no specific POLS unit requirements. Overall, I have taken 48.0 units out of the 60.0 units and am on track to complete my academic plan successfully with my request to take more than 6.0 units through my ILOP.
By the end of the fall semester, I will have taken 9.0 units of 300-level POLS credits, requiring only 3.0 units to complete my 300-level POLS credits. At AUP with my approved ILOP, I plan on taking PO3051 Global Political Economy, PO3061 International Law, and PO3100 Advanced International Relations Theory, as part of my major plan. In theory, these courses fit into my required core POLS courses should they be approved in my ILOP. The completion of these courses would allow me to complete the 12.0 units needed at the POLS 300 level and allow me to allocate my 4th year at Queen’s University to complete the 12.0 units at the POLS 400 level. With the approval of this ILOP, I will remain on track to graduate with 120.0 units at the end of my fourth year of study. I acknowledge the challenges that arise from the tentative approval of these courses through my ILOP with meeting the specific requirements of the Political Studies department. In that case, these courses can still count as electives, contributing toward the 120.0 units needed for graduation at the end of my fourth year. If any issues arise in meeting my plan's requirements, I am fully prepared to take on a heavier course load during the summer of 2025, as well as the fall of 2025 and winter of 2026 semesters, to ensure timely completion of the required units. Given the courses I have completed, along with those I plan to take at the American University of Paris in the winter semester of 2025 and at Queen's University during the fall and winter semesters of 2025/2026, I remain on track to graduate on schedule and achieve my academic goals.
