Petition Letter
I am petitioning to enroll in a course past the academic deadline due to extenuating circumstances beyond my control. While waiting on academic advice on whether to drop a course (STATS263) and add another (ARTH436) I received unfortunate news from a family member's mental health that caused increased stress. The domestic issue was ongoing causing my attention to stray from school. This made me mistakenly believe that the deadline to add/drop classes was the 19th and not the 16th of September. Due to this unfortunate event, I am now only enrolled in 3 courses making me a part-time student. This violates my Canadian Visa, Work Study, and my federal financial aid which requires me to be enrolled as a full-time student.
