Petition Letter
To whom this may concern,
I am writing to formally request a switch from the blended (in-person) section of PHGY 215 to the online version. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to meet the deadline to enroll in the online section, and I missed it by a few days. I hope you will consider my situation and allow this late switch.
The extenuating circumstances affecting my request come from how I best learn the course material. I find that the tutorial component, while only two hours per week, does not align with my learning style, and I struggle to gain significant value from it. This has impacted my ability to make the most of the course content. On the other hand, I believe I would thrive if I had more time dedicated to independent study. In fact, an academic advisor also recommended that switching to the online section would help me succeed by allowing me to manage my time more effectively.
I dropped PHGY 215-Blended section not knowing I could not enroll in the online version. I have completed the required work for the first two tutorials. However, I strongly feel that transitioning to the online section would significantly enhance my grasp of the material and improve my performance in this course, which is essential for my academic progress. I am currently working toward transferring into the Life Sciences program, and optimizing my study schedule is crucial to achieving the grades I need to make that transition successfully.
Should the switch not be possible, I would appreciate the opportunity to be re-enrolled in the blended section, as I would not have dropped the course had I known I might be unable to continue taking PHGY 215.
Thank you very much for considering my request. I sincerely hope that you understand my situation and can grant me this accommodation so that I may continue pursuing my academic goals.
Sincerely,
Amir Kamali
