Petition Letter
Hello Dr. Stephenson, and the dean’s office. My name is Isaiah Martinez, I have just started my fifth year as a life sciences student here at Queens University. I am writing today to formally request your permission and help to place me in a discover lab (DISC 598/99) for the fall and winter terms.
Due to a late start with my student administrative duties this year, I fell behind in the first week and was unable to enroll in any classes after the 1st of September. There was a hold on my SOLUS account that needed to be resolved before I could complete enrollment. Additionally, I had some personal and familial matters to address, which further contributed to the delay. Throughout this time, one of my peers had mentioned this discovery lab during class and it sparked my interest, especially due to the fact that I have the pleasure of being taught by them in my other classes After discussing this course and its details in more depth with Dr. Hindmarch, I decided this is something I am very interested in pursuing.
As I have now reached my fifth year, I am looking to find something that sets me up and prepares me for my future. I believe this course will help me develop great, applicable skills, it will bring me closer with like-minded peers and instructors and provide invaluable experience in the field of research.
I understand this may require me to restructure my class schedule and I am hoping this can be accommodated also. Thank you for taking the time to read my petition, I am very grateful for your considerations.
