Familiarize students with the basic concepts of international law of the sea and the legal protection of the sea on a global and regional level.
- The European Renaissance
Humanities
It aims to encourage students to think critically about primary sources in a variety of media (written documents, paintings, architecture, music…), and to analyze their own assumptions about pre-modern history.
- New Media in 20th and 21st century art
Humanities
Inspired by Raymond Bellour’s book Between-the-Images this course will make a focus on the visual culture mutating with technological progress (emergence of photography, cinema and its ‘enemy’ television as well as a computer based art).
- A History of Journalism and Its Multiple Crises in the Internet Age
Humanities
This course will examine first the emergence and codification of modern journalism as democracy develops in the United States, the UK, and Western Europe between 1850 and 1950
Based on the departments which these courses are offered and the highlighted information I have provided it is clear to see that these courses would significantly contribute to overall knowledge of Global Development Studies and help broaden my learning beyond the courses and opportunities Queen’s University can provide.
This information shows my academic standing upon return if I were to take 15.00 units while studying abroad rather than 6.00, counted towards elective units
