On October 28, I contacted my accessibility advisor to request the use of a memory aid for my midterms, which I require due to my disability. However, I was informed that the accomodation was not included in my accessibility report, and my request was subsequently denied.
Unfortunately, this situation negatively impacted my grade, as the accomodation would have significantly supported my performance. Additionionally, I did not receive a timely response from the advisor. Had I been informed earlier, I would have withdrawn from the course, thus avoiding a DR notation on my transcript.
To clarify my entitlement to this accomodation, I reached out to my speech-language pathologist, who originally provided the documentation. They confirmed that I am indeed eligible for the memory aid support. As I advance in my studies, I will continue to require updated recommendations to reflect my needs accurately. I believe the memory aid was essential for my midterms and will be crucial for future assessments as well.
