Petition Letter
Dear Members of the Academic Appeals Committee,
I am writing to respectfully request that the grade for the computer science course CISC 101 I took in the Fall2024 be dropped from my academic record. I understand the significance of academic integrity and the university’s policies regarding course grades, and I hope my situation will warrant your kind consideration.
During the Fall2024 I faced adjustment to new mental health medications that significantly impacted my ability to focus and perform to the best of my ability in the course. Although I put my very best into the course. These challenges were not reflective of my usual academic performance or my potential as a student at Queen’s University.
I recognize the importance of learning from my mistakes, and I have taken proactive steps to address the challenges I faced, improving time management, seeking academic support, and prioritizing mental health. Dropping this grade would provide an opportunity to accurately reflect my academic achievements moving forward and mitigate the negative impact on my Grade Point Average.
I kindly ask the committee to review my request and consider granting an exception to drop this course from my academic record. I would be happy to provide any supporting documentation, such as medical notes or correspondence with the university, to substantiate my request.
Thank you for your time and understanding. I deeply value my education at Queen’s University and remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence.
Sincerely,
Nadia Osunde
