I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally request an exception to the deadline for course alterations and to petition for a delayed switch from ASTR 101 to IDIS 199 or IDIS 280. Due to unforeseen and extenuating circumstances beyond my control taking place within the past couple weeks, I was unable to make this change within the designated period, leading for my delay of a couple days. During the past couple weeks, I have faced various circumstances that contributed to a decline in my mental wellbeing, and while I am continuing to seek support through counselling and manage my anxious amongst these conditions, I was unable to meet the deadline to have switched my class.
I take accountability of my late nature to this deadline, and was going to stay in the course without requesting an appeal, however, due to the challenges that I have faced within the past couple weeks, I have been unable to properly assess my ability to success in ASTR 101 prior to the deadline passing, and feel as through the IDIS 199 and/or IDIS 280 courses would provide a more suitable academic environment for my long-term success and current situation.
I truly appreciate your time and consideration of my petition, and I whole heartily understand the importance of adhering to academic policies, but I hope that my unique circumstances warrant an exception. Please let me know if there is any further steps to take, and if you would like additional information regarding the family circumstances that I have experienced in the past weeks that lead to my delay in switching classes, I am open to share.
Warm Regards,
Megan
