Petition Letter
I had originally attempted to enroll in FILM 200 as my last elective needed to graduate and I had chosen this course because I believe it would be interesting to learn about the study of video games. Additionally, I have several friends taking the course and I thought it would be a nice end to my undergraduate career to have a class with them, as we are all in different programs and have not yet had the chance to take a course together. When I had initially attempted to enroll, I got an error message saying that I had not taken the prerequisite, FILM 110, which I actually had taken in my first year. I opted to email the instructor of the course in order to sort out the issue, though I emailed right before winter break, and by the time anyone was available to help me, the course had already filled up. I was waitlisted in third place for a few weeks, and up until the week before the deadline for add/drop, I moved up to first place. I held out hope for the course because I really wanted to take it, but I did not get in before the deadline. Despite not being enrolled in the course, I still tried my best to keep up with course content while I was waitlisted with the help of my friends in the course. I understand that as of right now, the course is still at maximum capacity, though I thought to try anyway. I am aware that the Film Department does not usually make exceptions, as I was told by the instructor after recently emailing, which is why I also added another course that would fit in my schedule as well, which is GNDS 312.
