Academic Plan
In line with my dedication to achieving academic success and addressing the challenges that have negatively influenced my performance, I have created a detailed strategy to maintain focus, manage my responsibilities effectively, and ensure I remain aligned with the obligations of my degree during my final semester. This plan emphasizes my commitment to overcoming hardships and fulfilling my graduation requirements.
To facilitate my success, I will take advantage of different campus and community resources. I intend to consult with an academic advisor at least once this semester to confirm I am enrolled in the right courses and advancing toward graduation. I will continue collaborating with the Queen’s University accommodation services to ensure I get the organizational support I need to succeed. Additionally, I will continue to have consistent meetings with my psychotherapist and doctor to effectively manage my ADHD, anxiety, and depression effectively.
Improved organization and better planning are essential components of my strategy. I will use a comprehensive planner and digital scheduling tool to arrange deadlines, exams, and activities, dividing larger assignments into smaller, more manageable tasks. Furthermore, I will allocate specific hours weekly to study and revisit course material to ensure ongoing involvement with my coursework.
Effective time management will also be essential in my academic strategy. I will establish organized study blocks in distraction-free environments with clear goals for each session. By incorporating prioritization techniques, I will focus on tasks that are both time-sensitive and crucial. To avoid last-minute stress, I will complete assignments a minimum of two days before deadlines, giving myself time for unexpected challenges.
Proactive communication with faculty is another vital element of my plan. At the beginning of every month, I will reach out to my professors to notify them of any accommodations and create open lines of communication. If I face difficulties, I will quickly contact the teaching team to discuss possible solutions and prevent falling behind in my studies.
I also intend to focus on personal growth to improve my ability to manage my mental health and academic duties. Integrating mindfulness practices, such as meditation and breathing exercises, will assist me in handling stress and improve concentration. Additionally, I will look for resources to improve my executive functioning abilities, such as organization and task management, to better facilitate my academic success.
To track my development, I will arrange check-ins with an advisor and my therapist to review my progress, address hardships, and implement any needed adjustments. At the end of each month, I will assess the success of this plan and pinpoint areas for improvement to ensure continued growth.
By following to this academic success strategy, I believe I can overcome past challenges, stay focused, and reach my academic goals. I am committed to using every resource I have to actively address areas where I struggle, and maintain communication with the university to support my success moving forward.
