Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean,
Good day. I would like to petition for credit standing in HIST 125 and COMM 221 from Summer 2023 and ENGL 100 from Summer 2024. These are because of the substantial class time (approximately a month of work and classes) missed. Being admitted to the hospital three made me miss out on classes with instruction on course content that was crucial to excelling in the completion of assignments. Some assignments were completed in the hospital and my exams were results of last-minute cramming of the weeks of class where I couldn’t complete any readings or attend zoom lectures. I did not drop the classes because to be honest in both semesters, I was in very poor academic standing and did not want to be kicked out of school. So, I took classes to try and delay the situation while trying to figure out a solution or what my option are, and kept them even after being in the hospital and advised by my parents to drop them because I was scared if I dropped them the university would have been notified of my standing, and I would be asked to take a year off. I also hopped that despite the situation, I would be able to do enough to pull my grades over the threshold and be able to return to classes in the fall.
