Petition Letter
My name is Samantha Track (Student #20401409), and I am writing to respectfully petition for permission to take more than 6.0 units on a Letter of Permission (LOP) during Fall 2025. I am planning to study abroad independently at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, and I am requesting to take four academic courses along with a language course, totaling more than the permitted 6.0 units.
This petition is not due to any extenuating personal circumstances but rather to ensure I stay on track with my academic goals and program requirements as an Applied Economics student at Queen’s. The courses available through Cattolica’s International Curriculum offer an exceptional academic opportunity that closely aligns with my degree plan and areas of interest, particularly in international economics, sustainability, and business strategy.
I am proposing to take the following courses:
• Business, Government and the Global Economy ( ZXP707)
• The Economics of European Integration (ZXP700)
• Green Management & Sustainability (ZXP710)
• The Human Side of Business (ZXS568)
• Italian Language Course (ZXP719 – Pre-Session Intensive or ZXP720 – Semester Course)
These courses will fulfill upper-year electives in my Economics plan and complement the interdisciplinary structure of my program. The language course, while not required, supports my personal development goals and enhances the study abroad experience.
