Petition Letter
To Whom it May Concern,
I am submitting a petition to obtain 9.0 units of transfer credits from a different university, 3.0 more than the currently allowed.
I have had to take some time off from my studies due to mental illness, that has prohibited me from completing the final three courses of my degree. I am now well enough to complete these three courses and I am hoping to graduate in the near future.
I am hoping to take these credits through Athabasca University. The format of the courses at Athabasca University are completely asynchronous, allowing the student to complete work on their own timeline. This would be extremely beneficial to me as I am currently working a job within the hours of 8am-5pm, four days of the week. This makes it difficult for me to find courses that fit within my schedule. Having the flexibility to complete my courses during my free time would make it much more manageable for me.
The last three courses that I require to graduate are all electives, as I have already met the specific required courses for my DEVS degree. Therefore, I do not think taking one extra course externally will greatly impact the quality of my education. I would really appreciate if an exception could be made for me to take 3.0 extra units externally, as it would alleviate my scheduling issues and help me finish up my degree.
