Petition Letter
My name is Haley Campigotto and I am a 3rd year Arts & Science student. I am looking to drop CLST 207. In my experience at Queen’s University so far I have learned a lot about my boundaries as a student here. I am in a very low and vulnerable place right now and unfortunately this has impacted my daily life significantly. I’m finding it difficult to wake up and put my best foot forward everyday. I am on antidepressants, I have been for 4 years now and I have dealt with this feeling before and know the appropriate actions I need to take when I reach this point of despair. I was hospitalized earlier this year in November for a severe mental health crisis and I feel myself slipping. I do not want to face those old feelings and thoughts again. I am trying to navigate it differently this time and wanting to be proactive. I have spoken with team members from Student Wellness Services and Academic Advising Services and petitioning for a course drop is the best course of action that was discussed. I’ve dealt with mental illness all my life and I am aware of when I need help and this is the time. I feel as though dropping CLST 207 is in my best interest as I can then focus on the remaining exams coming up and focus on how I feel mentally, as I don’t want to cause any more detriment. I really appreciate your time and consideration on this. I hope to move forward in a way that prioritizes my mental wellbeing and can put me in a position to finish my other courses and exams to the best of my ability at this time. Thank you.
