Petition Letter
Throughout my academic journey, I’ve always struggled with traditional exam settings due to severe anxiety, which I’ve been formally diagnosed with. Because of this, I’ve carefully chosen courses that rely on varied assessments rather than a single high-stakes exam. However, I needed this psychology course as a requirement for my postgraduate goals, and unfortunately, the format changed significantly due to the recent strike.
The two-week pause in classes and assessments drastically altered the structure of the course, and now the final exam is worth 91% of the overall grade. This sudden change has put me in a very difficult position. I’ve been trying to manage, but the stress has become overwhelming, and I’ve realized I cannot succeed under these circumstances without compromising my mental health.
I didn’t submit a withdrawal request before the deadline because I was genuinely trying to push through and didn’t anticipate just how difficult this would become. I had hoped I could manage with enough preparation, but after seeing how heavily the final is weighted, I now understand that it’s not a realistic or fair situation for me.
Please let me know if there’s any documentation or further information you need from me to support this request. I appreciate your time and understanding, and I’m hoping for your compassion in allowing me to withdraw from this course.
