Petition Letter
Dear Office of the Associate Dean,
I am writing to formally request a review of my grade for the POLS 212 Module Reflection Paper. My petition is based on the fact that I did not receive a clear explanation of my grade and was denied an opportunity for an informal review due to the timing of grade submission. This directly meets the grounds for review, as I requested an informal review within the deadlines stated in the syllabus, but was informed that it could not be conducted due to the timing of grade submission.
Following my request for an informal review, I was informed by the instructor, Dr. Dunton, that the grading period for the course had been significantly compressed due to the university’s decision to delay bringing TAs back to work after the strike. As a result, grades were submitted quickly, and I was told that an informal review could not be conducted because final grades had already been submitted to the department on May 6. While I fully understand the challenges faced by the instructional team during this period, I believe that the university’s administrative delays should not prevent me from receiving a fair review of my work.
While I did receive some feedback on my paper it was limited and did not provide a clear, criteria-based explanation of how my performance was evaluated. This lack of specific feedback makes it difficult for me to understand the basis of my grade.
Given these concerns, I respectfully request a review of my grade.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please let me know if you require any further information from me.
Warm regards,
