Petition Letter
Dear,
I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing to respectfully request a review of my final grades for PHGY355 and BIOL331.
The past two years have been especially challenging for me, as my grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer shortly after I moved away from home. With no extended family in Canada beyond my parents and her, the emotional impact deeply affected my academic performance. I have worked to recover, and I believe my progress shows, beginning with my summer 2024 courses and continuing into the fall semester.
In PHGY355, I was 3% away from a B-. I had selected Test 2 to be weighted less and also completed the optional lab assignment, so I am concerned that the final grade may not reflect this adjustment. In
BIOL331, I was only 1% away from a B-, and I was hoping it might be possible to re-examine my assignments to see if there’s any way to help me meet that threshold.
These two grades are significantly impacting my GPA, and I would be incredibly grateful for any reconsideration or guidance you could offer.
Please let me know.
Thank you,
Melissa
