Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
My name is Ayva Marchiori (Student Number: 20287225), and I am currently entering my fifth year in the Bachelor of Arts Honours program at Queen’s University. I am writing to formally petition for enrollment in SOCY 100 and SOCY 101.
As a Health Studies Major with a Minor in Geography, I am working towards applying to a Bachelor of Education program upon graduation. With Queen’s no longer offering Health and Physical Education as a teaching subject, I am required to take an additional year to complete the coursework to qualify for a second teaching subject for the Intermediate teaching level. Sociology aligns well with both my academic background and future career goals, and the SOCY 100 and SOCY 101 courses are essential for me to fulfill these requirements.
I am currently on the waitlist for the SOCY 100 in the Fall 2025 semester. Unfortunately, I am unable to enroll for SOCY 101 in the Winter 2026 semester, as SOCY 100 is a prerequisite.
Given the significance of these courses for my post-graduate plans and the limited options available for teaching subjects, I respectfully request special consideration for enrollment in SOCY 100 and SOCY 101.
Thank you for taking the time to review my request. I am eager to continue my studies at Queen’s University and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to complete these necessary courses as part of my academic journey.
Sincerely,
Ayva Marchiori
