To Whom it May Concern,
This summer, I decided to take MATH121 because I was unhappy with the grade I received in MATH130. MATH121 is not a required course for my program, but I thought I should take it because I believed that I could achieve a better grade than I did in my previous math class, and I wanted to prove that to myself. Unfortunately, financial circumstances led to me working over 40 hours a week this summer, while I was taking the MATH 121 course. I was working on my feet for 9 and a half hours a day, five days of the week. Additionally, the commute to my workplace was over an hour long, and I had to wake up at 5 am to arrive on time. This took up many hours that I had originally intended to use for studying, especially considering that MATH121 is a six credit course. When I first signed up for the course, I was only planning on working part-time, and believed that I would be able to put far more effort into my studying. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and I needed to save more money and work more than I had originally thought. I know my academic capabilities, and I truly believe that if I had more time to put into the course, I would have achieved a far better grade.
I hope you take what I have said into consideration, as this class has had a large impact on my GPA, and I know that this mark does not represent my work as a student.
Thank you,
Rebecca Hirst
