Petition Letter
Dear Academic Petitions Committee,
I am writing to respectfully request permission to add an additional course after the registration deadline.
While attempting to rearrange my course schedule, I accidentally dropped one of my enrolled courses. This was not an action I intended to take, and I did not realize the course had been dropped until afterward. I am aware of the academic implications of dropping a course and would not have attempted to move this course around in my schedule if I understood the potential consequences. Unfortunately, the course had a large waitlist, and by the time I attempted to re-enroll, all available spots had been filled. I would also like to add that at no point in the process was I warned that I would not be able to re-enroll in the class, or that I was dropping it outside of the deadline and would not be able to re-enroll in any class for that matter.
I did not intend to reduce my course load and would not have dropped the course had I realized the course reenrollment date had passed. I am therefore requesting approval to add a different course in order to fill the resulting gap and remain on track academically.
I take responsibility for my mistake, but I would be very grateful for any consideration you are able to provide in allowing me to add a replacement course at this time.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Johnny Pavitt
