Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean (Academic) Dorit Naaman,
I am petitioning to drop POLS 380, POLS 395, HIST 219 and HIST 241 from fall 2025. In November 2025 I experienced a medical emergency, and had to be rushed to the hospital via an ambulance. I was admitted to the hospital and had to stay there for around a month and could not complete my studies due to my condition. I was unable to leave the hospital and unable to engage in any sort of physical or academic activity during my time in the hospital, thus I was unable to drop before the deadline. The reason why I am dropping these courses in particular and not my fifth course PHIL 243 was because I was able to complete the majority of the course work prior to my hospitalization. The other classes had the majority of work due at the end of the term, so the professors suggested that I drop because I could not get caught up nor finish it during a later time.
Since that time I have engaged with my medical team and am working on completing my academic plan which includes: taking a reduced course load, and working with care support services to ensure that I stay on track.
I have attached a letter of support from care support services, I consent to you reaching out to them if you need more information.
Sincerely,
Youssef
