Dear Associate Dean (Academic) Dr. Dorit Naaman,
I am petitioning to waive the deadline for late dropping courses taken from my first to second year,
due to extenuating circumstances that affected my health physically and mentally. The specific
courses I am looking to late drop are the following:
COGS 100, GNDS 125, and PHIL 151(Winter, 2024)
ARTH 120A, ECON 111, and GNDS 120 (Fall, 2023)
PHYS 118 (Summer, 2023)
MATH 121B, COGS 100, and CHEM 112B (Winter, 2023)
PHYS 115 (Fall, 2022)
I was unable to submit this request within the given period because of my health. I was required to
take a year leave of absence to focus on bettering my health and resolving major concerns that
affected me during my time in school. During the aforementioned course years, my physical and
mental health took a toll. Issues such as an inability to sleep and chronic pain impeded my ability
to focus and keep up with classes as well as my ability to work on my academics.
I began my leave in the tail end of 2024 following my second year. My focus was bringing myself to a
place where I could manage my wellbeing alongside creating a support system for my needs
moving forward. My time consisted of various appointments with specialists and doctors, to
remedy my extenuating circumstances. During this time, the given course drop deadline had
already lapsed bringing me to my current situation.
Due to extenuating circumstances, I am petitioning to waive the course drop deadline in relation to
the previously mentioned courses. In doing so, I hope that I may have the opportunity to provide
explanation for what lead to my earlier academic performance. I thank you for your consideration in
this matter.
Sincerely,
Prabjot Kaur Chohan
