Petition Letter
I am writing to respectfully request consideration for receiving credit for the WHMIS and Chemical Safety quizzes in CHEM 110, despite completing them after the stated deadline.
Due to the structure of the course on OnQ, which was shared concurrently with CHEM 112, I found it difficult to clearly identify which components were required specifically for CHEM 110. In particular, the WHMIS quiz was not clearly indicated as a prerequisite prior to the start of labs, and when I became aware of it, the system had already marked it as overdue. The layout and navigation of the course page made it challenging to distinguish required tasks and deadlines across the two courses.
As soon as I realized the oversight, I completed both the WHMIS and Chemical Safety quizzes in full. This was not a matter of neglect, but rather confusion arising from the course organization and timing of information.
I fully understand and respect course policies regarding deadlines. However, I am kindly requesting consideration for the 1% associated with these quizzes, as I have now demonstrated completion of the required material. This small adjustment would have a meaningful impact on my final grade.
I am currently preparing to begin medical school this July, and maintaining the required academic standing is essential for my progression. I have worked diligently throughout the course, including strong performance in labs and other components, and I hope this context can be taken into account.
