Petition Letter
I am requesting an extension of my exam deferral because I have been incredibly sick these past few days May 17 - 19, dealing with an underlying chronic physical health condition I am going through extensive testing for. This has been plaguing me the entire academic year and I’ve been trying to see specialists but as we all know this takes time in our broken healthcare system.
As it hasn’t been diagnosed as of yet I haven’t registered it with QSAS. This involves my heart not functioning properly and my gut, as a result I have been fatigued and sick and recently, as in the morning before my first deferred exam I experienced a flare so severe I was violently vomiting and had to take myself to see a doctor because I felt weak and couldn’t keep food down and had a dangerously elevated heart rate.
As such, I did not feel prepared to write the exam because I was concerned with potentially losing consciousness or continuing to need to vomit during the exam as that has become frequent when I experience symptoms of a serious flare like this. I do not feel I can write the other 2 successive deferred exams as I generally require a longer period of time to recover.
