Hello Members of the Board of Studies,
I am a Statistics major (Student No. 20234505) planning to graduate in Fall 2026. In Spring 2025, I believed I was on track to graduate but misunderstood how SOLUS’s shopping cart function interacted with actual enrollment and miscounted the credits I needed to graduate. When I realized in late Spring 2025 that I did not have the required credits, I attempted to adjust my plan to graduate in Fall 2025. Around the same period, I experienced significant personal challenges that affected my mental health, concentration and academic performance. As a result, between Summer 2025 and Winter 2026 I dropped the courses in which I was enrolled, one of which being ECON 111.
For the 2026 Summer semester I intended to enroll in ECON 111 to complete my remaining elective credits. I missed the initial registration date due to the same period of disruption, joined the waitlist promptly, and was unable to secure a seat while the class remained full. I have checked and there are now several open seats in the class. I contacted the instructor, Professor Khan, on May 20, and received a reply on May 21 indicating no objection to my joining the class.
The circumstances described above directly caused the credit shortfall in Spring 2025, withdrawal from courses in 2025–26, and the missed registration window for Summer 2026. Those issues have now been addressed. Over the past year, I stepped back to stabilize my situation. I have since implemented concrete planning tools, such as calendar alerts and blocking out time for course work and changed work hours so that I can better focus on my studies.
To succeed, I have a specific plan where I have scheduled a minimum of 20 hours per week reserved for ECON 111, with end-of-week review of both lectures and notes and implemented a learning approach where will be completing readings and modules as soon as they are available and reaching out to teaching assistants or the professor if I find that I am struggling in the class.
Allowing my enrollment does not displace other students as seats are available, is supported by the instructor, and enables timely degree completion without requiring additional terms or costs to the university.
I respectfully request permission to enroll in ECON 111 for Summer 2026 so I can complete my remaining credits and graduate in Fall 2026. I am prepared to act immediately upon approval to finalize registration and begin coursework.
