Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean,
I am writing to respectfully appeal the decision to require my withdrawal and to request consideration for continuation in my program. I fully understand the seriousness of my academic standing decision and take responsibility for the choices, patterns, and circumstances that led to my inability to meet the academic standards required to continue in my program.
I recognize that my academic difficulties were not just isolated to a single term, but spanned several terms, and created a pattern of inconsistent academic performances, including progression onto academic probation. During this period, I was struggling with mental health challenges that affected my ability to stay consistent and manage academic demands effectively. Rather than seeking support when these difficulties began affecting my performance, I attempted to handle them independently, which allowed ineffective patterns to continue and contributed to my academic decline.
Following my placement on academic probation, I reflected on my performance, but did not fully acknowledge the need for deeper changes to my study strategies and academic approach. Instead, I focused primarily on improving my grades without making the necessary changes to the habits and strategies that contributed to my academic difficulties. As these challenges continued, my performance deteriorated further. Through reflection and recent engagement with support resources, I have a clearer understanding of the factors that contributed to my academic struggles and have begun taking concrete steps to address them.
I recognize the importance of demonstrating readiness for continued study at this school, and I am fully committed to maintaining consistent and successful academic performance moving forward. My focus is on establishing stable study habits, improving exam preparation strategies, and actively using available support resources to ensure long-term academic success.
I respectfully request that the committee consider my appeal for reinstatement. I am fully committed to demonstrating sustained improvement and meeting the expectations required for successful progression at Queen’s University.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Aarushi Dixit
