Academic Plan
Sophie D’Aigle Edwards - Academic Plan
I have faced many health challenges in my first year, negatively affecting my academic
performance and my ability to complete courses. After much reflection and consideration of last
year and my current situation, I have developed the following Academic Plan to help me identify
my goal, my expectation and my strategies for next year.
a) My goal is to proceed with second year in Fall 2026; to learn and succeed in my courses
and my studies.
b) My expectation is to continue implementing my health and academic strategies in order
to focus on my health and academic studies.
c) My strategies include :
-
To maintain my health related strategies and treatments
-
To continue at reduced course load per term
-
To register for a combination of asynchronous and in-person courses
-
To pre-schedule bi-monthly appointments with my Accessibility Advisor and
Academic Advisor, throughout the Fall/Winter terms.
I was accepted into Queen’s University and registered in the Bachelor of Science Degree
Program, towards a Psychology major. I currently do not meet the criteria (amount of credits) to
choose a major. My understanding is that I am, therefore, considered an undeclared major, at this
time.
I plan to continue taking courses in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences to explore my interests
further as well as explore other possible areas of study within the program. Prior to registering
for courses in July 2026 for the 2026-2027 academic year, I will meet with my Academic
Advisor again, to discuss the course options, academic pathways and review the academic plan
together.
I plan to take a reduced course load of three courses per term, allowing me to continue as a
full-time student and aim for balance as I continue to recover. It is important for me to continue
what I have gained during this past Winter term.
I plan to meet with the Academic Advisor and my Accessibility Advisor on a bi-monthly basis to
ensure that I remain on track with my academic plan and to discuss concerns before they could
become a significant challenge. Furthermore, I will actively use campus support services such as
professor office hours and Student Wellness Services, to help me manage challenges before and
when they may arise.
I also plan to maintain and continue regular medical and health support, including medication,
individual counselling and physician visits, as established over the last while.
Finally, I am open to consider any other strategies and supports that may be available and
appropriate for me. I am committed to continuing to implement the above mentioned supports
and strategies in order to manage my symptoms, maintain good health and achieve my academic
goals as a Queen’s University student.
My Academic Plan demonstrates my improved position as a healthier person and as a student
eager to pursue my studies.
