Petition Letter
I am requesting that the DR notation for PHGY 216 be removed due to extenuating circumstances beyond my control.
At the beginning of June, a close family member passed away unexpectedly. This was a very difficult time for both me and my family, and I spent much of the following weeks grieving while also supporting my family. As a result, I was unable to focus on my coursework to the extent that I normally would.
At the time, I deferred the midterms for both PHGY 215 and PHGY 216 in the hope that the additional time would allow me to process my loss and return to my studies. Unfortunately, although the deferred exams provided extra time, I found that catching up on two accelerated summer physiology courses after this disruption was no longer manageable. Despite my efforts to continue in both courses, I realized that I could not successfully balance the workload and made the difficult decision to withdraw from PHGY 216.
Because these circumstances arose unexpectedly and were beyond my control, I was unable to withdraw from the course before the deadline to avoid receiving a DR notation. I respectfully request that the DR notation for PHGY 216 be removed in light of these extenuating circumstances.
I would also like to note that gaining documentation will not be possible since I do not want to invade the privacy of my family member and this is a delicate situation.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my petition.
