Petition Letter
I am appealing for an independent study abroad in Fudan University, located in Shanghai, China for my Winter semester in my 4th year of undergraduate study. I have always been interested in going abroad during my regular third year. However, as you may know, it is extremely difficult for Life Sciences students to complete their core courses in a non-English speaking country. However, I will be completing my core courses in Life Sciences in Fall, 2015. By going to Shanghai, I wish to concentrate on my World Languages minor. I believe the international experience can allow me to be fully immersed in that language and culture to fully appreciate them.
In addition, my family predominately resides in China. This includes my father and my extended family. I feel homesick in Canada. My grandparents who raised me as a child are aging. Periodically, I would hear them visiting the hospitals. I would like to stay closer with them and take care of them as much as I can while in China. I wish to spend more quality time with them before I regret it as too late.
