Petition Letter
I am submitting the statements of support from both the drama and history department for me to go on exchange in the winter semester of my third year (January 2017)
Hi Lindsay:
As the history department¿¿s faculty member in charge of transfer credits and exchanges, I¿¿m writing to you with departmental permission to apply for a letter of permission to go on an independent exchange for one term in your 3rd year of study, next year.
As we¿¿ve discussed, being at Queen¿¿s at least one term next year and both terms in year IV in addition to the courses you plan to take while on exchange will ensure that you can complete your medial History degree. It¿¿s best to take at least one senior seminar next fall at Queen¿¿s and you¿¿re aware that you¿¿ll need to complete any outstanding seminar credits and the Canadian breadth requirement in 4th year, depending of course on your course selection in both terms of Year III.
Best of luck with your application to the faculty office.

To whom it may concern,
I am writing this letter in my capacity as Undergraduate Chair in Drama in support Lindsay Laronde¿¿s application to go on exchange in Winter term 2017.
Lindsay is currently a Drama/History medial in her second year of study. In terms of the practicalities of finishing her degree requirements, as at the end of April 2016, assuming she completes her current slate of courses, Lindsay will have 66.0 units completed. She needs 48.0 more units overall to complete her BAH. So she is perfectly on track, even a little bit ahead due to a Summer course in 2015 and 3.0 extra units in 2015-2016. In terms of her specific plan, she will have 18.0 units completed the requirements for her History medial (need 24.0 more), and will have 22.5 units in Drama towards her medial. She will require 19.5 more.
During her exchange semester she will take History courses and electives. In her 4th year, Lindsay will take DRAM220 and DRAM300 (which she will miss while on exchange). These two courses will give her 9.0 units, so only 10.5 units in Drama remain for her 3rd year. I have encouraged her to load up her Drama courses in the Fall of 2016 before she goes on exchange. She is planning to do 7.5 units that term in Drama and the remaining 3.0 in her 4th year. So overall, I see no problem at all for Lindsay to complete her requirements for the degree.
From a personal standpoint, Lindsay is an engaged student with a solid GPA of 2.79. I think that this exchange opportunity should be encouraged and facilitated.
Best,
