Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to appeal for a late drop of CISC220 taken in the fall of 2015. I have been struggling with mental illness for some time and this is not the first course to be affected. This dates back to summer 2015 and beyond, but I wasn¿¿t officially diagnosed until last October. It was on ongoing struggle that whole time that basically caused me to struggle with not only the course, but day-to-day tasks as well. It proved exceedingly difficult to complete coursework without having small breakdowns and I only ended up submitting one assignment. I reached out to a doctor during the fall semester and have since been undergoing treatment to better myself but it is of course not a simple process. I initially championed for an IN but after speaking with my professor (Margaret Lamb), she advised me that a drop is the best course of action. I have attached the email where she mentions this as well as the initial letter from my doctor where he fully supports my IN appeal. I was (and still sort of am) in a bad place but I¿¿m working through it and I am going to retake the course in the upcoming fall.
Thank you,
