Academic Plan
While I initially was considering the possibility of appealing to complete the four year honours program I signed on for when I started at Queen's in 2005, I believe that, due to financial circumstances and other nonacademic committments, it is most feasible for me to complete the requirements for a three year general degree. As I understand it after speaking with the faculty of arts and sciences, I am one half year credit away from completing said requirements. If there is a suitable summer course offered via distance education, I can arrange my part time work such that I am left with two-three days per week and the weekend in order to do my necessary readings and coursework.
The difficulties I had with my degree were not a lack of motivation or interest - for the most part I completed my readings on time, and I have retained a keen interest in philosophy in the intervening years. My depression was making it difficult to complete my coursework on time, and while I was at Queen's, and since then, I have had counselling sessions in order to help me deal with it. Completing my other degree also reinforced the time management skills and the development of my ability to focus on written work, so I believe I have developed the skills I need to complete the requirements for a three year degree at Queen's. I have spoken with academic advisors and am aware of the next steps I need to undertake if I am granted this appeal.
