Academic Plan
Through discussing with the academic advisor and learning from past mistakes I plan to do the following. Starting this summer, I am planning to continue to see Dr. O'Brien as well as him assisting me in finding a therapist that I can see (approximately on a weekly basis) for when I return to kingston in September. This summer I will also take 2 online courses. This is due to the fact I find the transition from summer to school extremely difficult. My solution is to take one or 2 courses this summer to keep myself focused and in the mindset of balancing school and other activities. Come course picking for the Fall 2016 yearI want to start by only taking about 3 courses per semester. It is evident to me that I cannot take a full course load (especially when I am switching medications) so I need to lessen my course load to be more successful. On top of this, as stated previously I plan to see Dr. O'Brien and a therapist throughout the rest of my studies or until we find it no longer necessary. For the 3 RELS courses I want to drop, I will definitely retake them the next Winter semester or whenever they are next available. During the year, I also plan to meet with an academic advisor to discuss my course load and to make sure I am continuing on the right path. If after my 1st semester next year I find I am still struggling I will meet with an academic advisor as well as my health care professionals to discuss what the next step will be). If I am successful after my 3rd year I will take 2-3 courses during the summer again to stay on top of my schooling and then the following year take possibly 4 courses instead of 3 courses a semester. This may require me to take an extra semester or full year to complete my 4 year degree however I feel it would result in me being more successful. With all these ideas put together into a working plan and put into action, I feel as though I can be successful and help me achieve academic success.
