Petition Letter
Dear Dr. Johanne Bénard,
I am appealing to retake STAT263 (Winter, 2016) for the summer or the fall term, and have the current mark replaced. I am also appealing to have no mark of the retake shown on my transcript.
The reason that I wish to retake this class is due to poor performance that occurred due to extenuating circumstances in the winter term. Poor health, combined with mental unrest resulted in a decreased ability to intake information and to study with any effectiveness. Moreover, stress resulted in a less than optimum physical condition, which affected my writing of the exam on the testing day. This affectation was worst during the days before the STAT263 exam, and lessened following consultation with a counsellor, which occurred a day before the STAT263 exam. Thus, the circumstances that lead to my appeal to retake the course have since been resolved, and should not occur again. I put in the work to get good marks and keep up with the material in STAT263 during the semester, and while I worked hard to study for the final exam, due to the circumstances I was not able to perform according to my full capability.
I hope that you will consider my appeal to retake the course, and allow me the opportunity to take the exam again, without the encumbrance of the previously mentioned circumstances.
Thank you for your time,
Wara Lounsbury
