Petition Letter
During the second half of the 2015/2016 school year I suffered from Major Depressive Disorder. During this time I felt unable to concentrate on anything and hardly able to do anything; I was not going to class, I was not studying, my assignments felt overwhelming and I was barely able to leave my house. I felt unable to talk to even my closest friends about my condition, I did not know who to turn to: I felt much too nervous and self-loathing to seek professional help, and I knew that talking to my parents about my depression would only break their hearts. During this period I seriously contemplated suicide and with my clouded judgment I thought that killing myself was my only recourse due to my quickly dropping grades. I am only just starting to recover as being around my family reminds me that I am loved and if I were gone they would be seriously hurt. Thankfully I persevered but now I am left to clean up the mess that I made for myself. As I am on academic probation this appeal is the only way for me to continue my studies at Queen's next year and I have no idea how I would get along if I were not returning. For these reasons I would really like a second chance at my education.
