Petition Letter
I am writing this letter for the purpose for having my one-year probation waived off. Through out high school I was a consistent good grades student but due to some events taking place this year, my academic performance was affected greatly. Please understand that these are not excuses for my performance but they are the circumstances I endured. I am confident that I will be able to demonstrate my usual academic performance if given a second chance.
Three major events lead my academic performance to be grounded. They were, the passing of my grandmother, my aunts husband passing away, and the death of my girlfriend. Since I was very close to my grandmother I would sleep next to her whenever I visited. Having to wake up next to her and see her dead body took a major toll on me. It was such a horrifying experience that I was sent into depression by it. Because of this my mother stopped working and I had to her workplace in order to make money, which cut more into my school time. Not long after my aunt, who had raised me, husband passed away. Because of this I fell deeper into depression and was unable to do anything about it because it was out of my control. Furthermore, I had to take time off from school and visit her to comfort her and help around the house as I felt I had owed her for raising me. Next my girlfriend was diagnosed with leukemia and eventually succumbed to her illness. Once again I had to take time off from school and visit the Sick Kids hospital in Toronto to meet her and to be with her. Therefore, I missed many lectures and a lot of study time. I felt as this was the breaking point for me and was so overwhelmed with everything that I was unable to discuss it with my professors.
If you look at the grades I earned all throughout high school, you will see that the grades I made this last year are very unusual for me. I implore you to give me one more chance to be the student I know that I can be.
Respectfully,
Anshul Kaliravna
