Academic Plan
Since I have been home this spring, I have been working towards coming up with the best possible plan for September. I have been in contact with two of my professors regarding the incompletes that were on my transcript my understanding is that because I completed those exams at alternate times, the marks were not yet included. I have been in contact with another professor to complete a course requirement that I was unable to in April due to my anxiety. I did receive an email from my fourth professor indicating that the mark in Solus (a D) was incorrect and that the correct mark would be submitted at a later date. Unfortunately, since the posting on Solus on May 13, 2016 indicating that I would be suspended for one year effective immediately also means that I can no longer log into Solus to see if my transcript has been updated. Needless to say, this is very frustrating to navigate, as I am working full-time and have not had much success with email correspondence with either my academic counsellor or my professors to date.
In July, I will be completing a psycho-educational assessment, which will provide the paperwork to support my diagnosis of anxiety. I am also hopeful that it will help me understand how I best learn and give me new strategies and supports to help me be more successful in my academic studies. In addition, I will continue to meet with my academic counsellor, family physician, psychiatrist, therapist, and advisor at accessibility services regularly. I am hopeful that the psycho-educational assessment will provide further recommendations to support my academic accommodations, including other resources available to me that I have not accessed before. I am also hopeful that accommodations can be made to explore alternative methods of assessments, other than the traditional exams, as I have experienced much more success from those different formats.
