Academic Plan
Course of Study: Bachelor of Computing (Honours) in Computer Science (CSCI-P-BCH)
I am planning to be a full time student taking a reduced course load for the following three years to complete my degree requirements.
Strategies for success and Academic Preparation:
Difficult course(s)/ content: CISC 260 which I am retaking next year with a plan to be more successful this time after seeing the course content, and continuing by studying the material from the course over the summer. I plan on making more use of Teaching Assistants throughout my time at Queen's, as when I took advantage of these resources in other classes. I found it very beneficial to speak with people after classes and during office hours.
Choice of Degree Plan: I believe my choice of degree plan is right because of my passion for computing and technology. I am creating projects outside of my regular school work and have already been employed in this field during summer internships.
Learning Strategies: I am speaking more to my parents and a Queen's councillor about the issues that I am facing personally which has already made an impact that I didn't think was possible in the last two years. I have been and will continue to have regular meetings with an academic advisor which has given me a brighter outlook on my academic future. I have been speaking with my sister who just finished her Queen's Computing degree about our shared passion of this field and she is committed to helping me along the way to academic success in the coming years
Motivation: I am very interested in the degree and it is motivating. I believe it will be more so when I take a better number of courses for myself and focus on a lower number of classes
Financial recourses are not an issue.
Situation Demands: There are long term effects of what is going on and what has been affecting my performance. I plan to continue going to a councillor and reaching out to my parents when I experience issues with my personal health or academic performance.
