Academic Plan
As far as academics, I did not finish with a high enough mark in PHIL 250 or 257, so I will be retaking them both when I return to studies, forcing me to require a fifth year of study to complete my degree. Along with philosophy, i have taken a few courses in human geography, which I am looking to continue in, and I am also interested in looking at a few first-year film courses to fill out my schedule. In order to really improve my studies when I do return to Queen's, I plan to have a more open relationship with my professors and TAs to improve communication of ideas and clarification of requirements and expectations, as I have always tended to keep my work to myself until submitting it. I am also looking to find peers in philosophy with me that are willing to study, read and discuss class material together, as I have found that philosophy is better learned by debating and discussing ideas with others rather than trying to decipher it all by yourself.
I am also interested in making regular meetings with a counselor on campus in order to help me maintain my mental health and keep my priorities and motivation on track throughout the school year. I have never been one to attend anything like this before, but I think now is the time I finally need to ask for help in order to make myself better.
